Hustlegen:AI Listing Writer for Etsy

What I Built

I built ** HustleGen **, a lightweight, AI-powered e-commerce copywriter tailored for Etsy, eBay, and Shopify sellers. It takes a few basic product features and transforms them into SEO-optimized titles, persuasive descriptions, and search tags.

Instead of relying on expensive closed-source APIs, HustleGen is powered by ** Google's Gemma (7b-it) **. It's designed to be a tool that sellers can run on their own terms.

The Side Hustle (Who would pay for this?)

Indie sellers spend hours agonizing over SEO, or they end up paying $30/month for bloated AI writing subscriptions that eat into their tight profit margins.

Sellers would gladly pay a $15 one-time fee for a packaged desktop version of this app that they can run locally, or subscribe to a micro-SaaS with a cheap pay-as-you-go model. It solves a specific, painful bottleneck for e-commerce side hustlers: listing fatigue.

My Code

You can find the complete code and instructions in my GitHub repository:
** HustleGen by aditya-prog-bit **

How I Built It

I used ** Streamlit ** to build a clean, fast web interface. For the backend, I integrated the Hugging Face Inference API to access Google's open-weight gemma-7b-it model.

I utilized specific prompt engineering via Gemma's <start_of_turn> chat templates to ensure the model formats the output strictly into a Title, Description, and Tags layout, preventing it from going off on conversational tangents.

Why Open Innovation Matters

If an indie seller builds their business relying on a closed API, a sudden pricing change can wipe out their profit margins overnight. By building HustleGen with open-weight models like Gemma, we give sellers freedom. The code can be easily modified to run entirely offline using Ollama, keeping their product ideas private and completely eliminating recurring AI costs.

Open innovation ensures that AI acts as an equalizer for small businesses, rather than just another expensive overhead cost.
