The Second Brain I Built Needs a Lot of Maintenance

Pain of the day.

I do not know how it is for you, but my pain of the day is that the machines slow down really hard when I have, say, 10, 20, 30 sessions open.

Plus part of it runs in Codex, part in Claude Code, and there might be Cursor or Antigravity open on top of that.

And despite the computer being super powerful, 128 gigs of RAM, it crawls hard.

I do not know what to blame. I am looking for what is slowing it down.

At first I thought it was the re-index and the indexing of my vault: RAG, embeddings and all that. But apparently not.

The mouse moves across the screens very jerkily. Has anyone had this?

I also suspect Screenpipe. I have it running on the machine recording everything that happens around the computer.

And maybe the microphone driver hangs.

What are your thoughts?

In general, the second brain I built needs a lot of maintenance, because it holds 20 gigs of files.

And every time changes get added to it, a giant re-index happens, and that slows the computer down hard.
