Amazon's Kindle Paperwhite (2026) brings a 7-inch 300 PPI E Ink display, IPX8 waterproofing, and native support for AZW, PDF, TXT, and MOBI formats, with EPUB and DOCX requiring conversion.

The two versions of the device

The new e-book comes in two basic models. The basic version costs $199,99, is made of black plastic, and weighs 7,2 ounces. This basic version includes ads on the lock screen, which can be removed for an additional $20.

The more advanced version, called the Signature Edition, costs $249,99 and features an aluminum metal frame in gray or green, and weighs 8,1 ounces. Both models have the same dimensions, measuring less than a third of an inch thick, and are water-resistant.

Features and storage space

The metal version offers double the storage space at 32 gigabytes, compared to the 16 gigabytes of the base model. It also has a light sensor that automatically adjusts the light and special contacts on the back for charging.

File compatibility

The device directly reads file types such as AZW, AZW3, PDF, TXT, as well as MOBI and PRC files that are not protected by lock. For other file types such as DOC, DOCX, EPUB, HTML or RTF, prior conversion via applications, tools or email is required.
