Apple is scaling back AI operational costs, having reduced the daily spending limit for engineering teams from $300 to $200.
Plans suggest this figure may drop to $100 for engineers, while non-engineering staff could see a $25 cap.
As large-scale AI integration continues, these internal shifts offer a look at how major players are calculating the trade-off between AI-assisted development cycles and the raw compute costs involved.
According to a Bloomberg report published on November 4, 2026, the changes began in October. The daily spending limit for engineers was then reduced from $300 to $200. However, the company is planning further cuts that could limit the limit for engineers to $100 per day.
For other non-engineering staff, Apple is considering imposing an even stricter limit of $25 per day.
The move reflects a broader concern in the tech industry. While companies have previously been given great freedom to use artificial intelligence tools, their high operating costs are now forcing businesses to manage their funds more carefully.
