The Arc web browser is shutting down on December 22, 2026, as The Browser Company shifts focus to a new browser called Dia.
User accounts will be deactivated and personal data deleted by January 21, 2027, with data export options provided for existing users.
The Browser Company's CEO, Josh Miller, explained on the company's website that the decision was made so that the team could focus its efforts on a new program called Dia to meet modern security needs.
The timetable of the end
The shutdown process began on October 22, 2026, when new account creation stopped and data transfer to Dia was enabled. On November 23, artificial intelligence features, such as AI search on mobile phones, were disabled.
Arc will stop working on Windows and macOS computers on December 22, 2026. All accounts will be deactivated and user personal data will be permanently deleted by January 21, 2027.
The transition to the new program
Those who install Dia can transfer bookmarks, extensions, folders, history, passwords, profiles, and tabs from Arc. So far, there is no indication of a portable or mobile version of Dia being released.
