TUXEDO OS has entered the final stage of its open beta, shifting its core foundation permanently from Ubuntu to Debian Testing.
Discover what changes in this release, including custom package repository maintenance, KDE Plasma stack details, and upcoming QA milestones.
The new release is called “Continuous Debian” and uses the Debian testing version, known as Debian Testing. German computer manufacturer TUXEDO Computers began testing in August and has since released five test versions.
According to the company, users have sent in many reports of problems, but at the same time there is a positive response from those who are testing the system. The current beta version runs the KDE Plasma 6.7.4 desktop environment in combination with the Linux 7.2 kernel. TUXEDO OS will remain permanently based on the Debian beta.
The development team will continue to maintain its own software repositories and provide updates to core components such as graphics, kernel, and interface. During November, developers are focused on resolving the last remaining issues.
