Here are step-by-step instructions for adding the Rest Connector in Camunda Desktop Modeler
- Visit the Camunda Marketplace at marketplace.camunda.com.
- Search for "rest" and select the first result, or click on rest-connector.
- On the page, click "For SM" and you will be directed to the GitHub repository.
- In the GitHub repository, select the "element-templates" folder and download the two files from there.
- Create a sub-directory named
.camunda/element-templates/in the directory where your BPMN model is saved on the local filesystem. - Move the two downloaded files from the GitHub repository into the newly created
.camunda/element-templates/directory.
- Reload (cmd+r) the Camunda Desktop Modeler to apply the changes.

Handy walkthrough, thanks! Two small additions that save some trouble later:
Project vs global templates. The .camunda/element-templates/ folder next to the BPMN file makes the templates available only to diagrams in that directory, which is great when you want them under version control with the project. If you want them in every diagram, you can put them in the Modeler’s user resources folder instead (on macOS ~/Library/Application Support/camunda-modeler/resources/element-templates, on Windows %APPDATA%\camunda-modeler\resources\element-templates).
Keep template and runtime versions aligned. The element template only describes the properties in the Modeler: on Self-Managed the matching connector still has to run in your connectors runtime. If the template version is newer or older than the deployed connector, the diagram looks fine but fails at execution time.
