Sometimes, it’s simply not the right time. But sometimes, it’s just that the audience is smaller — and more engaged.
I’ve written articles that didn’t get many views, but generated a lot of thoughtful comments. And every comment was proof that someone had actually read the article all the way through.
Those views matter, too, no matter how few they are.
It’s rare for things to work out from just one post. 😿
Especially as software engineers, I think the most important part isn’t just building something once. It’s continuously improving it over time.
That’s a mindset I want to keep with me too. 🚀

The painful part is spending 3 hours on a post, getting 17 views, then watching a random post you wrote in 30 seconds somehow take off.
Algorithms have the same sense of humor as production.

Views measure distribution, not necessarily value.
In software we see the same thing all the time. You can spend weeks building something technically beautiful and nobody notices it. Then some tiny thing you made in an afternoon suddenly gets all the attention. 😂
So I stopped treating attention as a quality metric a long time ago.
Build it. Publish it. Learn from it. Then build the next one.
Sometimes the audience arrives late. The important part is making sure there’s something worth finding when they finally arrive. 😉

In my earliest days of browsing/ research I learnt so much from forums and blogs but never reacted, just learning. This is also a reason I just realized I'm here in DEV.to not every post must have a 100 likes or a single comment. Everyone has an audience quiet or applauding.
