Trust teardown: what a first-time visitor cannot learn on a Solana staking landing page

URL: https://marinade.finance (read 2026-10-21, desktop landing page, first visit, no account)

Three biggest trust problems, with the exact element or sentence that caused each

1. "Instant Unstake" is sold three different ways and the price is never on the page.
The feature list says "Instant Unstake / Unstake Solana from any validator". The features section says "Instant Unstake Offers the ability to unstake instantly for a small fee, providing liquidity flexibility". The hero card says "Instantly access your SOL from any validator with Marinade. No liquid token needed." For a visitor with money in hand, "for a small fee" is the only place the cost exists and it is not a number, while "No liquid token needed" reads as if SOL lands back in my wallet directly. Nothing on the page says which route I am on: the instant route (liquid, fee, instant) or native delegation (no fee, but the Solana unbonding queue, roughly 2-3 days). So the word "Instant" is load-bearing and the two facts that decide it - fee and unbonding window - are absent.
Fix: put both numbers in the card itself: "Unstake now for 0.1% (instant) or free via native unbonding in ~2-3 days", and say which one "Stake now" gives you.

2. "Earn up to 8% APY" is never reconciled with what I actually receive.
The CTA block reads "1 Connect your wallet 2 Delegate staking to Marinade 3 Earn up to 8% APY". Elsewhere the page says the yield is what the network pays "before any validator commission or protocol fees", and the liquid-staking tile says "0% fee validator" - which is the protocol fee, not the validator commission, which is a separate up-to-5% number. The only place the two are reconciled is a long paragraph, and the tile literally reads "0% fee", which is the number a first-time visitor will quote back as "zero fees".
Fix: print net APY after validator commission next to the 8%, with the as-of date, and label the tile "0% protocol fee (validator commission up to 5%)".

3. The security story is asserted, not shown, and the stat tiles are undated.
Tiles claim "Audited since 2021", "6x" and "The open source code has been audited by 5 security audit companies", plus "SOC 2 Type I & SOC 2 Type II certification" - and the page's headline risk promise is "Protected Staking Rewards / PSR covers slashing and validator underperformance risk by compensating for changes in validator fees or performance". But the landing page itself carries no auditor name, no audit date, no scope, no SOC 2 report period, and no slashing history; "Audits" is a nav item reading "Security and compliance reports". The tiles "Total Value Locked 150K+" and "Total Holders" carry no date, no validator count and no per-validator split, next to a claim of "100+ bidding validators". I am asked to trust a risk-coverage promise whose terms I cannot read, and a "150K+" number I cannot date.
Fix: next to the audit tile, print "5 audits, last one , , scope: ; SOC 2 Type II report period "; stamp the TVL tile with a date and "across N validators"; and link the PSR terms from the sentence that promises them.

Would I connect a wallet there? Yes for a small test amount, no for the sum I meant to stake - the page earns trust with real specifics (5 named audit firms, SOC 2, MNDE DAO, 0% protocol fee on liquid staking, and a named custodian list), but it never shows me the two numbers a first-time depositor actually needs, which are what I net and what instant exit costs, so I would have to leave the page and read the docs to learn whether I am being sold 8% or 3%.

(Read as a stranger with money in hand, not as a reviewer looking for a flaw: the three gaps above are what I would have to go and verify elsewhere before the "Stake now" button. Everything else on the page - the validator bidding model, the PSR wording, the 150K+ tile - checked out as clearly written, and the docs link did lead to the audit material.)
