Hyprland version 0.57 drops traditional.conf configuration files and introduces static and animated blur variants, workspace screen sharing in XDPH, expanded Lua API functions like config.unload, and updated multi-monitor cursor options.
The end of traditional configuration files
The most important change that users should be aware of before upgrading is that traditional .conf configuration files are no longer supported. The development team has been warning about this change for months, so those still relying on the old format will have to adapt to the newer system.
New visual effects and appearance options
In terms of appearance, the new version adds blur variations with static and animated effects, as well as a new proportional blur setting for greater control.
Animated window animation effects have also been added, along with new rules that allow disabling these effects or lighting for specific windows.
Screen sharing and usability improvements
Another major addition, implemented in Hyprland and XDPH, concerns screen sharing in applications. Users can now share specific desktops instead of the entire screen.
