Enlightenment 0.28 is out, introducing a new NetworkManager module for Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and VPNs, plus native PipeWire audio support alongside PulseAudio.
The release also adds clipboard history, per-battery charge limits, ACPI CPU power profiles, and initial NetBSD support.
New capabilities for networks and audio
The most important addition is a new network management tool. Users can now control their wireless internet, wired connections, Bluetooth, and VPNs directly from the desktop, viewing signal strength and security options.
In the audio sector, the new version adds support for the PipeWire audio management system, working alongside the well-known PulseAudio.
Better power and battery control
Power management now includes the ability to set battery charge limits individually for each battery. In addition, support for processor power profiles and improvements in cooperation with AMD graphics cards have been added.
Corrections and other changes
The update also brings:
- Built-in history for copied texts with adjustable storage.
- Smoother window movement and keyboard repeat settings.
- Fixes to black screen issues on startup and sudden display disconnections.
- Increased Bluetooth reliability.
- Initial support for the NetBSD operating system and reinstatement of the Pants add-on.
- Updated translations in French, Italian, Japanese and Portuguese.
