Hi all,
It's been a while since my last update on Unity Access, so I thought it was time to share what's new!
Updates
Unity Access has had two major updates:
- An accessible Animator editor has been added.
- Unity Access now has an official wiki.
The Animator
What is an Animator?
In Unity, the Animator window is where developers create and configure Animator Controllers. These controllers define how animations play and how the character or object transitions between different animation states.
Traditionally, this has been a very visual, node-based system, making it difficult for blind developers to use.
Unity Access now has its own accessible Animator editor!
It can be opened through the Unity Access menu and allows users to add animations and configure which layers they belong to.
This makes another important part of Unity's development environment accessible to developers using screen readers.
The Wiki
The most recent update is the launch of the official Unity Access wiki!
The wiki provides documentation for the available features, including a short getting-started guide to help new users become familiar with Unity Access.
I'll continue expanding the documentation as the project develops.
Your Thoughts
How have you handled animations in your own Unity projects? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any challenges you've encountered.
