Hi everyone.
Im a tech enthusiast a senior IT professional

I joined DEV.to because I wanted a space to share technical articles, exchange ideas, and learn from other developers and IT professionals. I recently published an article about yesterday's PHP cyberattack, which is also what brought me here!

My interests include database engineering, Databases, DevOps, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and exploring how generative AI and AI agents are changing the way we build and manage technology.

I believe there's always something new to learn in this industry, no matter how many years you've spent working in it. I'm here to share what I learn, document real-world technical experiences, and connect with people who are passionate about technology.

Looking forward to being part of the community. Feel free to say hello or share what you're currently working on!

Happy Coding 🚀

Welcome @zeeshanarif Dev.to is a wonderful community to share articles, exchange ideas and learn from others. You're in the right place!

I'm in between projects and it feels odd not to be building. But I'm going to GDG Devfest in Modesto, CA this weekend and really looking forward to it.

Looking forward to seeing your writing!

Welcome! Databases plus security plus AI agents is a good mix right now. I’m curious how you see agents fitting into database work: do you let them touch production data, or keep them read-only with a human approving any change? That boundary is the part I find hardest to get right.

Wageesha Tripathi •

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm Wageesha, a software engineer from India working in full stack. Lately I've been building AI tools that make your daily dev work easier.

Most of us switch between Claude, Codex, Gemini, ChatGPT, etc., and when one runs out of tokens halfway through a task, the work just stops. The next AI starts from zero and you explain everything again. So I built which-ai-to-use: it hands the task to another AI with the full context, so it carries on right where the last one stopped. It also helps you manage your tokens: it warns you before your limit runs out, makes your AI skip heavy files that waste tokens, and tells you which AI and model to use for each task, and much more.

Read about it: dev.to/wst2002rk/how-i-switch-betw...

Get it for VS Code: marketplace.visualstudio.com/items...

And if you've ever had an AI say "done, all working" when it never ran the tests, I built proof-of-done for that: a Claude Code plugin that stops Claude from finishing until your tests, build or lint have actually passed. It also catches tests that were skipped or weakened just to make them pass.

GitHub: github.com/WST2002/claude-code-skills

See it in action: reddit.com/r/coolgithubprojects/co...

Excited to learn from this community. What are you all building these days?

Collapse

thetonynotes profile image
Tony •

Welcome, Wageesha. proof-of-done hits a real pain: an agent saying "all working" without running anything is the failure I run into most. Does it check that the tests that ran actually cover the change, or only that the suite passed?

Collapse

wst2002rk profile image
Wageesha Tripathi •

Thanks, Tony! Good question. Until now it only checked that the suite passed, so a passing suite that never touched the new code still got through.

Your comment pushed me to add a first step, live now in 0.4.0: if Claude adds a new file or changes a good chunk of code but no test, it asks you once whether to add one. Say yes and it writes and runs the test. Say no and the report notes why. Small edits, styles and config are left alone so it doesn't nag.

Checking real coverage of the changed lines is the harder next step I'm looking at. Would this catch the cases you run into?

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. My nickname suits me—I’m definitely not like most of the people here; you’re clearly the "brains" of the bunch... lol—and I say that with no malice, maybe even a bit of envy!
For a living, I work in HVAC, but given the way the world is changing, you have to keep up. I don’t have any formal background in programming or anything like that—I’m self-taught; I learned on the job, as they say... and also by losing 20,000 on the dark web! I know that’s just part of the game, but I’m an enthusiast at heart.
I’m currently working on a few small projects—who knows where they might lead?
In any case, I really envy the younger generation today (I’m 49 years old)—so many things have changed. I remember my first NES... and now we have Kali Linux, Flipper Zero, and so on—AI is just insane!
Take care, everyone, and I hope we get to chat sometime.

I'm a solo dev from Germany working on a side project that grew out of my own Steam backlog. At some point I had no idea which of my games my PC could actually run, so I built doesitrun.com: you paste your Steam profile and it estimates FPS for every game in your library, plus Steam Deck and ProtonDB status.

The part I keep fighting with is the FPS estimate. Store requirements are often vague or outdated, so mapping them to real hardware performance across ~26k games is messier than I expected. I'll probably write about that here, along with the SEO side of running a site with thousands of generated pages.

Welcome, Oyinda. Wanting to build things you can use yourself is a great place to start, because you always have a real user to test on. Pick one small annoyance in your day and build the smallest thing that fixes it. What are you learning first?

Hi everyone, I'm Seb 👋 New here.

I'm a developer who got stuck trying to learn AI: every course I found was out of date a few weeks after it was written. So I started building a small open-source side project for myself, to see if an AI chat could teach me instead.

I'm here mostly to read, learn how people build with MCP and Claude Code, and get better at writing posts.

What are you working on this week?

Ashar Ali •

YOO EVERYONE, hope yall are having a great week...so far.

Im Ashar, an IBDP graduate from Pakistan spending my gap year building complex systems from first principles. I don't want to treat math and AI libraries as black boxes. I want to build the engine. MUEHEHEHEHE 😊

Here is what I’m documenting on DEV:

The Math Engine: Writing a custom C++ linear algebra library from scratch (cache-blocked multiplication, complex numbers, eigenvalues).

The Simulator: Using my own math engine to build a state-vector quantum circuit simulator, validated against Qiskit.

The Security: Containerizing the simulator and building a secure CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions, cppcheck, and Trivy.

I’ll be writing about C++ numerics, quantum computing, and DevOps. I'm just starting out and have a lot to learn, though I have always been inclined towards Quantum Computing and research, If you 🫵🏼 love deep dives into how things work under the hood, we can connect :>

Welcome @asharali. Building the engine yourself is the best way to learn it. I started with assembly and C too, and now work in C++ on drilling robots. Looking forward to the cache-blocking post.

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm excited to be part of the DEV Community!

I'm interested in software engineering, AI, and how AI is creating new opportunities for developers to learn, build, and earn.

Recently, I've been exploring paid AI coding tasks and putting together resources to help software engineers discover these opportunities.

I actually wrote a post about it here: Paid AI Coding Tasks for Software Engineers.

I'd love to connect with other developers who are exploring AI tools, building projects, or finding new ways to put their coding skills to use.

A question for the community: Have you tried any paid AI coding tasks or AI training projects? I'd love to hear about your experience!

Teethawat Kanpai •

Hi everyone, I'm Teethawat, a solo developer from Berlin. 👋

I build GetSpace, a keyboard-driven file viewer for Mac and Windows: it shows the files of a folder one by one, large, and you decide with one key per file (keep, trash, skip, move, rename). It's written in Rust with Tauri and React, and everything runs locally.

I started it because going through a full Downloads folder in Finder felt slower than it should, so I timed it: about 9 minutes by hand for 100 files, about 3.5 with the app. I'm planning to write up how I tested that (and where the test is weak) here on DEV.

Happy to meet people who build desktop apps or care about file workflows. What are you working on?

Collapse

Welcome, Teethawat. Timing it by hand first and then saying upfront where the test is weak is something I rarely see in launch posts, so I'd read that write-up. Once people trust the one-key flow, does undo end up mattering more than raw speed?

ATTRITION •

Hi everyone!
I'm a solo developer working on ATTRITION, a free, Tarkov-like extraction shooter built in Godot 4 with some C++ for the heavy parts.

My goal is to model as much as possible on real military data and doctrine instead of game logic:

Ballistics: every caliber uses real muzzle velocity, bullet mass, drag and penetration values, from 9×19 to 7.62×54R AP.
Damage: organs and armor plates instead of hit points. A plate only covers what a real plate covers.
Close quarters battle: the AI clears houses like trained soldiers. Covering fire, grenade, two-man entry, corners checked before "room clear".
Tactics and communication: bounding overwatch in the open, flanking, and contact reports over the radio with a realistic delay. Squads only know what they've actually seen or heard.

It's in early alpha and free on Windows:
[github.com/Vyrenbusiness-source/at...]

I'd love to talk with anyone into game AI, ballistics or military sims – nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone, I'm Tony. I build and run web products, and most of my coding these days happens alongside AI agents, mainly Claude Code.

I came to DEV to write about what actually holds up when you work this way. Generating code is the easy part. The harder questions come after that: how you review code you didn't write, what to put in a project's instructions, why agents lose context, and how to test UI an agent built. I'm publishing a weekly series on this here, "Making Coding Agents Reliable", and I write longer essays on where AI agents are taking software on my newsletter (linked in my profile).

If you use coding agents too, what's the one habit that made them more reliable for you?

Hey all,

I am more of a product and growth guy, but I have developed blockchain dapps in javascript/nodejs and an iOS/Android app. I have now started learning Go.

From mobile apps to blockchain to AI enthusiast, along with my tech cofounder, I am engrossed in building an agentic development lifecycle (ADLC) protocol for AI coding agents. I published some blogs about it last week.

I am here to learn and discuss experiences with AI coding on long projects or anything AI-related. So will be lurking, reading, and interacting when the opportunity comes up.

Cheers,
